Ukraine appeals to UN to help prisoners exchange

Ukrainian negotiators at the Minsk peace talks on Donbas have appealed to the United Nations to act as a go-between to verify the unwillingness of refugees from Donbas to return to the separatists-held territories. Donbas militants claim that Ukraine is holding some of the prisoners, preventing them to return to the occupied part of Donbas.

This was stated Feb. 15 in Facebook by Darka Olifer, the press secretary of Ukraine’s negotiator in Minsk ex-Pres Leonid Kuchma. 

As some of the refugees do not wish to return to the separatists-held Donbas, they cannot be an impediment to the prisoner exchange process, Darka said.
